We are happy about an order from Fred Olsen Windcarrier, an established Norwegian company in the shipping industry, offering broad experience and combining knowledge from the expanding offshore wind industry with extensive offshore oil and gas experience. In 2010 Fred Olsen Windcarrier placed an order for 2 self-elevating, self propelled jack-up installation vessels, namely the Bold Tern and the Brave Tern. Both of these vessels were built to meet the highest possible standards in the industry and offer space for up to 80 staff as well as a heli-deck to facilitate transfers during offshore wind farming installations.
Only the best is good enough for Fred Olsen and with the technical equipment on board the 2 jack-up vessels taken care of in terms of the highest possible quality Fred Olsen turned their attention to their staff. For an excellent work environment and highest possible motivation of their crew they decided to provide their people with the established and state-of-the-art Pronomar-Top Trock drying systems.
Drying systems, made from high-quality seawater resistant stainless steel, for survival suits, overalls, jackets/trousers as well as gloves and boots will be installed on each jack-up vessel. The drying systems are designed in a formfitting, rounded way which ensures the costly work wear doesn’t suffer any harm. Further the drying is done efficiently and fast due to a big amount of warm air, coming from a powerful blower which leads the air directly into the garments to be dried via nozzles in the hangers. Advantages include that by keeping the clothing and boots dry at all times, the material lifetime is extended considerably which significantly brings down purchasing costs. The drying systems also help to increase the health and motivation of the people on-board. It’s a fact that you are less likely to get sick if you are able to work in properly dry gear rather than having to wear wet and damp boots and clothing all day. By preventing sick leaves you also prevent costly down times and also increase the crew’s motivation and well-being.
